Rymer Announces More Than 60 Road Projects Across Virgin Islands in 2025
Minister for Communications and Works Hon. Kye Rymer said more than 60 road projects are planned and under development across the Virgin Islands in 2025, marking one of the ministry’s most extensive infrastructure efforts in recent years.
Speaking at the Government of the Virgin Islands’ Mid-Year Retreat, Hon. Rymer identified road rehabilitation as a top priority, with projects underway in Sea Cow’s Bay, Greenland, Sabbath Hill, Shepherd Hill, Mount Healthy, Fort Hill, Ridge Road, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, and Anegada. Design work has also begun for major upgrades to Windy Hill and Fort Hill Roads. Additional works include kerb walls and drainage solutions along the primary road network on Tortola.
Hon. Rymer said the road projects are part of a broader set of initiatives advancing through his ministry. In the area of digital modernization, the government has launched a Water and Sewerage Payment Portal, plans to expand online services at the Department of Motor Vehicles, and is implementing new telecommunications technologies, including satellite phone systems.
The ministry is also overseeing rehabilitation of the Ralph T. O’Neal Administration Complex, which will add more than 20,000 square feet of office space, expanded parking, and mechanical and structural upgrades.
Looking ahead, Hon. Rymer said the ministry’s priorities for the remainder of 2025 and into 2026 include the rehabilitation of nine miles of roadway from the West End Ferry Terminal to the Road Town Ferry Terminal, one of the largest road initiatives in recent years.
Other objectives include further renewable energy development under the Solar Technology Energy Programme, transportation and port expansion, airport upgrades, completion of the West End Ferry Terminal, and drainage improvements across the territory.

Participants received instruction on identifying early signs of stress-related responses and providing peer support following critical events.
According to the Governor’s Office, the training forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen welfare and resilience within frontline services across the territory.
“By strengthening welfare and resilience within our front line services, we are ensuring that the people who protect us are supported themselves,” the Governor’s Office said in a statement.
Officials thanked participants for their involvement and acknowledged the trainer for leading the sessions.
