A man arrived at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital on Sunday night, October 26, with multiple gunshot wounds, and the car he came in was riddled with bullets, according to a source.
It remains unclear whether the victim drove himself to the hospital or was brought there by someone else. The victim’s condition has not been publicly released.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has not yet determined the motive for the shooting or identified any suspects. Investigators said the case remains active and that more details will be released as they become available.
Last night officers were called to the Purcell Estate area shortly before 9 p.m. after reports of gunfire.
The incident comes amid heightened concern about gun violence across the Territory. In recent weeks, several armed robberies have been reported, including one at the Touch Down Bar in Road Town, where a young man was shot during a robbery.
The shooting also follows a separate security crisis involving the escape of two inmates from His Majesty’s Prison in Balsam Ghut on Saturday night, both of whom remain at large.
