JTV’s Cathy Richards, host and producer of The Big Story, was honoured last night at the Virgin Islands Icon Awards, winning in the “Recorded Entertainment” category. The event, held at the Multipurpose Sports Complex on Sunday, July 6, celebrated Richards’s compelling storytelling and resonance with Virgin Islands audiences.
Richards—a Guyana-born journalist based in Tortola—has been a consistent presence in the local media landscape. She was recognised alongside other nominees that included Da Morning Braff Show on Tola Radio, The Love Link Show on Signal 284, Talking Points on ZBVI, The Overflow with Brother K, and Zking Radio.
This marks her second consecutive nomination: last year she was shortlisted but did not win.
With her second nomination turned victory, Richards now cements her position as a leading figure in the Virgin Islands media industry—a respected voice whose contributions are being acknowledged not only for their entertainment value but for their cultural significance.
