Wakima Lettsome, 43, has been charged in connection with a stabbing that left one man in critical condition in Road Town on Aug. 8, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) said. Lettsome faces counts of wounding with intent and common assault and remains in custody pending his next court appearance.
The attack occurred around 5 p.m., according to the RVIPF. The victim, whose name has not been released, is hospitalized and receiving urgent medical treatment. Police arrested Lettsome shortly after the incident following what officials described as “swift police action.”
Acting Commissioner Jacqueline Vanterpool said the rapid apprehension underscores the RVIPF’s commitment to public safety. “We take acts of violence in our community extremely seriously,” she said in a statement. “We will not relent in bringing offenders to justice, and we continue to urge anyone with information to speak with us.”
