The Virgin Islands marked a historic milestone as the Territory became the 154th country to host the MV Logos Hope, the world’s largest floating book fair. The official opening ceremony on Oct. 24 was attended by Premier Honourable Dr. Natalio D. Wheatley, Governor Daniel Pruce, and Captain Matt Stephens.
Premier Wheatley underscored the importance of the visit, describing it as a powerful message of unity and faith. He said the thousands of books aboard the vessel present opportunities for teachers, students, readers, and local authors to promote literacy and foster a culture of learning across the Territory.
Other officials in attendance included Minister for Education Honourable Sharie de Castro, Deputy Governor David Archer, public officers, and representatives from the private sector.
The ceremony featured cultural presentations, a tour of the vessel, and the official opening of the book fair to the public.
