Karia Mactavious-Christopher Laid to Rest

Mrs. Karia J. Mactavious-Christopher, a senior communications director in the Office of the Premier, was laid to rest today Saturday, January 10, with government officials, colleagues and family in attendance to honour her life and service.

Mrs. Christopher, who died suddenly in late December 2025, had held several senior public service roles, including director of communications, director of trade, investment promotion and consumer affairs, Sister Islands Programme coordinator, and chief administrative officer of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, according to local reports.

In a statement issued following the funeral service, the Premier’s Office said Mrs. Christopher was remembered for her leadership and dedication to public service. “Mrs. Christopher’s calm strength, generous spirit and unwavering commitment to serving others were felt by everyone who had the privilege to work with her,” the statement said. “Her leadership in the Premier’s Office was an inspiration to us all.”

The funeral brought together public officials, coworkers and community members who reflected on her professional contributions and the impact she had across government. “Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness,” the statement added.

Mrs. Christopher also hosted her own television show, Real Talk with Karia Christopher, and was active in community organisations including Rotary Club Tortola, Zonta BVI and the Sea Cows Bay Methodist Church, earlier profiles noted.

She is survived by her husband, Roberto “Rory” Christopher; daughters Hunter and Dakota Christopher; and her mother, Delrice Mactavious.
