Christopher Appointed Director of Communications in Premier’s Office

Mrs Karia J Christopher has been appointed Director of Communications within the Premier’s Office, following a period of rotation during which she carried out the duties of the role.

In her new position, Mrs Christopher will support policy development, act as the key cross-ministry communications coordinator to help deliver the Government’s Legislative Agenda, and serve as Press Secretary for the Government of the Virgin Islands. She will be responsible for ensuring that government messaging across all channels is consistent and meets established standards.

Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office, Mrs Carolyn Stoutt Igwe, welcomed the appointment. She said: “She has done extensive work during her rotation period and I am confident that she will continue to grow in the role as she works to improve communications across the Public Service.”

Mrs Christopher said she was pleased to continue serving in the role. “I look forward to strengthening our communication efforts, ensuring that Government’s messaging is clear, transparent and accessible, while fostering greater engagement with the public as we advance the Government’s Legislative Agenda,” she said.

She previously served as Director of Trade, Investment Promotion and Consumer Affairs, Sister Islands Programme Coordinator, and Chief Administrative Officer of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission.

Mrs Christopher holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management and a Master of Science in Human Resources Management, together with a certification in Organisational Change. She also holds accreditation in Public Relations from the Public Relations Society of America, along with certifications in speech writing, mass communication and advanced public speaking.
