Walwyn Helps Eleven District Six Youths Chart Course in Marine Industry

Opposition Leader proud as young residents enroll in HLSCC marine training programmes

Leader of the Opposition and Sixth District Representative, Hon. Myron V. Walwyn, is celebrating a major milestone for young people in his constituency, as eleven aspiring mariners from District Six have been accepted into the Marine Professional Training Programme and the Caribbean Boat Masters Programme at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC).

Hon. Walwyn shared the announcement via social media, expressing pride in helping the young residents pursue meaningful careers in the marine industry. “Today was a good day! I ran for public office for one reason and one reason only—to help make the lives of the people that I represent better,” he said.

He recounted meeting with the group several months ago and promising to assist them if they showed genuine commitment. “They showed the commitment and it has happened,” Walwyn noted.

The initiative, which was also discussed during his recent appearance on The Big Story on JTV, aims to provide practical opportunities for youth development in a key sector of the Virgin Islands economy.

“I would like to thank all the people who worked along with me to make this happen. You guys are awesome!” Walwyn said, extending gratitude to supporters and partners.

Expressing pride in the participants’ determination, he concluded, “Today I am very proud of the step taken by these young people. Upwards and onwards!”
