Nicoy Hendrickson has been selected as the British Virgin Islands’ first representative to attend the One Young World 2025 Summit in Munich, Germany, Unite BVI Foundation and Virgin Unite announced. The summit, which brings together young leaders from around the world, will take place later this year.
Hendrickson, business development manager at Caribbean Cellular Telephone Ltd. (CCT BVI), was chosen following a multi-stage selection process that included written surveys and interviews with six shortlisted candidates. According to Unite BVI Executive Director Kim Takeuchi, Hendrickson’s international experience and vision distinguished him during the review.
“We were incredibly impressed by the calibre of applicants and inspired by the passion and dedication of young leaders from across the BVI,” Takeuchi said. “Nicoy’s exceptional vision and international experience set him apart. We are confident he will not only deliver on a global stage but also inspire his peers with innovative ideas upon his return.”
Hendrickson, a graduate of Temple University with a concentration in finance, has more than nine years of experience in telecommunications at CCT BVI. He said he intends to focus on education, responsible technology, and community development during the summit.
“It is a profound honour to be selected as the first-ever delegate to represent the Virgin Islands at the One Young World Summit held this year in Munich, Germany,” Hendrickson said. “I recognize that the weight of this opportunity is bigger than myself. Thus, I hope not only to contribute to meaningful dialogue for global change, but also to amplify the voice of our Territory internationally.”
The One Young World Summit is expected to bring together 1,500 young leaders from more than 190 countries to address five themes: the circular economy, responsible technology, education, anti-hate, and peace and security.
Unite BVI and Virgin Unite will cover the costs of Hendrickson’s attendance, including airfare, accommodations, transportation, a stipend, and entry to the summit, valued at $6,500.
