The Department of Waste Management, under the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Government of the Virgin Islands, announced that the dumpsite on Virgin Gorda is closed today, Dec. 10, due to current weather conditions.
In a public bulletin, the Department of Waste Management advised residents that the site would remain inaccessible because conditions at the facility prevent safe disposal of waste.
Residents were also reminded not to dump at the site during periods of heavy rainfall or when terrain conditions prevent waste from being placed directly onto the dumpsite.
