The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has confirmed the identity of the man killed in a fatal shooting late Friday in the eastern community of Greenland. The victim was 28-year-old Eric Alezis Albert, a fire officer assigned to Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport.

Albert was found dead following reports of gunfire in the area on the evening of June 20. Police have launched a homicide investigation, though no arrests have been announced and a motive has not been disclosed.

In a public appeal issued Monday, the RVIPF urged anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be submitted directly to the force’s Intelligence Unit at 368-9339, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 or 1-284-800-8477 for overseas callers.

“The RVIPF extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Albert during this time of loss,” the department said in a statement.

As the investigation continues, the police have released no further details but said updates will follow as new information becomes available.
