Cornell Penn Wins Top Honours at Carrot Bay Fishing Tournament

Cornell Penn took the top prize at the 2025 Antonio “Tony” Martin Fisherman’s Tournament during the Carrot Bay Cultural Fiesta.

Penn, fishing aboard the Sam Kerry Boat 4 with Hon. Marlon Penn and Ivan “Pompey” Penn, recorded the overall most catch with a total weight of 204 pounds, earning a $1,500 cash prize.

The tournament, hosted by the Fishing Tournament Sub-Committee to promote and develop the fishing industry in the British Virgin Islands, featured four registered participants.

 

Smith Robin, fishing on the Robin II with angler Phillip Robin, landed the biggest fish at 17 pounds and achieved a total catch weight of 174 pounds, also securing a $1,500 cash prize.

In the women’s category, Alison Fahie, aboard the Flounder with owner and captain Patrick Stout and angler Sterling Stout, recorded a 91-pound total catch to claim a $500 prize.

Franklyn Chinnery of Jost Van Dyke won the special fish category with a 19-pound kingfish aboard the Tango, part of a 56-pound total catch, and collected $1,000.

The youngest angler award went to 17-year-old Sterling Stout of the Flounder, who received $500.
