Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer Theron Thomas will lead a one-day seminar for aspiring and established artists on Oct. 2, at Maria’s by the Sea.
The event, titled The Artist Seminar, is presented by Homegrown Studio & System Rentals and will provide free sessions on music production and engineering, touring and performance management, artist branding and marketing, and the music business. Organisers said the seminar is designed to give participants practical tools to navigate the industry.
Thomas, a native of Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, is best known as one half of the duo R. City, alongside his brother Timothy Thomas. The pair has written and produced for international artists including Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Sean Kingston and Lizzo. In 2024, Thomas received the Grammy Award for Songwriter of the Year (Non-Classical), credited with contributions to projects by Tyla, Chris Brown, Chloe Bailey, Ciara, Cordae and Jungkook.
His career began with early placements such as “The Rain” for Akon’s Konvicted album, and he later co-wrote chart-topping hits like “We Can’t Stop” for Miley Cyrus and “Pour It Up” for Rihanna. Thomas has said his process often begins with personal experiences or observation, before shaping lyrics and melody.
Registration for the seminar is open via homegrownstudiovi@gmail.com, and attendance is free. The programme begins at 5:30 p.m.
