The Government of the Virgin Islands has announced that Monday, Oct. 20, will be observed as a public holiday in recognition of Heroes and Foreparents Day.
The annual observance honors the contributions of Virgin Islands’ heroes and foreparents whose efforts helped shape the Territory’s social, political, and cultural development. The day serves as a time for reflection, celebration, and public recognition of individuals who have made lasting impacts on the Virgin Islands community.
According to the Office of the Deputy Governor, all government offices will be closed on that day, and the public is encouraged to participate in activities that commemorate the Territory’s history and the legacy of its people.
Heroes and Foreparents Day is one of several public holidays designated by the Government of the Virgin Islands to celebrate the Territory’s heritage and achievements.
