Tortola Pier Park Ltd. (TPPL) conducted a tabletop security exercise Thursday aimed at reinforcing its existing security infrastructure through coordinated engagement with law enforcement and port stakeholders.
The exercise, held at the TPPL Conference Room, brought together representatives from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), the BVI Ports Authority (BVIPA), BVIPA’s Security Division, and TPPL’s internal operations and security teams.
In opening remarks, TPPL’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Zoe Walcott, said the initiative was designed to strengthen a framework that has previously yielded effective outcomes in real-time incidents.
“Today’s session is about enhancing what already works,” Ms. Walcott said. “Our framework is sound, but we are always seeking ways to sharpen our readiness.”
Participants engaged in scenario-based discussions and simulations focused on emergency coordination, communication protocols, lockdown procedures, marine containment, and public information dissemination. The exercise was structured to evaluate and strengthen multi-agency interoperability during critical incidents.
According to officials, the session affirmed the effectiveness of current protocols while also identifying areas for enhancement. Outcomes included recommendations for integrating advanced surveillance, conducting additional emergency drills, and providing specialized training for personnel.

All participating agencies committed to continued joint training and follow-up exercises aimed at maintaining operational readiness and improving coordinated response efforts.
