Djimon Gumbs of the British Virgin Islands did not advance to the men’s shot put final at the World Athletics Championships on Sept. 13 in Tokyo.
Gumbs’s did not register a distance in any of his qualification attempts.
The event was won by Ryan Crouser of the United States with a throw of 22.34 meters. Mexico’s Uziel Muñoz earned silver with 21.97 meters, and Italy’s Leonardo Fabbri took bronze with 21.94 meters.
Gumbs entered the championships with a personal best of 20.29 meters, set in April 2024.
