BVI Football President Advances Talks with FIFA’s Infantino at Global Summit

British Virgin Islands Football Association (BVIFA) President Avanell Morton met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino today in Miami, following the opening session of the FIFA Executive Football Summit 2025.

BVIFA reported the meeting as “constructive,” with discussions focusing on football development objectives, with particular emphasis on the women’s game. Infantino highlighted existing support through FIFA Forward, which has aided infrastructure expansion, and noted the early success of the FIFA Football for Schools programme, launched in December 2024, which is already elevating grassroots football across the Caribbean

Infantino emphasized:

“FIFA Football for Schools … is already making a positive impact on the grassroots game and I look forward to continuing our collaboration.”

The meeting also covered other key initiatives: the FIFA Talent Development Scheme, which is aiding youth player scouting, and additional funding from FIFA Forward used to upgrade the BVIFA National Technical Centre inside.fifa.com.

Morton described the exchange as mutually informative, stating:

“I listened to what the FIFA President had to explain, and he listened to what I had to say too, so the outcome is great for the British Virgin Islands.”

He concluded by offering best wishes to Infantino as FIFA continues its global work.
