Murder Suspect Erick Rabsatt Arrives in BVI Today to Face 2021 Killing Charges

Erick Rabsatt, the man police say is responsible for the 2021 shooting death of U.S. Army veteran Jaimez Stoutt, is being deported to the British Virgin Islands on Aug. 12 to face murder charges, authorities confirmed.

Rabsatt, 23, had been on the run since December 2021 before his capture in Puerto Rico in early May by the U.S. Border Patrol’s Special Operations Group. The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) named him as the prime suspect in Stoutt’s killing and confirmed he was wanted under an Interpol Red Notice.

According to U.S. Border Patrol officials, Rabsatt — a Dominican Republic national in the United States illegally — tried to escape through steep hills and dense brush before being apprehended with the help of canine officers. He has remained in custody in Puerto Rico pending his deportation to the Territory.

The U.S. Border Patrol announced his arrest on May 5, stating, “You can run, but we will find you, and apprehend you,” though they did not name him at the time. The RVIPF later identified him and confirmed the murder charge.

Local authorities have not released details on when Rabsatt will make his first court appearance after arriving in the BVI.
