The BVI Tourist Board & Film Commission (BVITBFC) is urging tourism-related businesses across the Territory to register or update their listings on the official website, www.bvitourism.com, and to subscribe to the Board’s email database to ensure access to marketing and promotional opportunities.
For more than two decades, the BVITBFC website has served as a central platform for prospective visitors planning trips to the British Virgin Islands. According to the Board, the site currently reaches more than 600,000 users annually and plays a significant role in travel planning. A recent study by marketing agency MMGY indicated that 68 percent of travelers to the BVI consult the website prior to visiting the Territory.
“With the upcoming season approaching, the Board is making a push to update both our website and our email database,” said Director of Tourism Clive McCoy. “We note that some of our partners make changes to their contact information without providing updates for the website. This makes it difficult for prospective visitors to connect with them, representing a potential revenue loss.”
McCoy emphasized the importance of accurate business listings, noting that it also impacts the website’s visibility through search engine optimization (SEO). The Director also encouraged business owners to join the email database to receive timely communications and marketing alerts.
“Business contacts who sign up in our database will be able to receive important and timely promotional opportunities and updates in the dynamic world of international travel and tourism,” he said.
The BVITBFC’s email database allows industry stakeholders to access key industry updates, participate in special marketing initiatives, receive invitations to trade shows and webinars, and access statistical reports and marketing intelligence compiled by the Board.
The official website offers complimentary business listings and extends reach across multiple social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Threads. Collectively, these platforms boast over 230,000 followers, enhancing exposure for local tourism operators.
Businesses interested in signing up or updating their listings can contact the Tourist Board at listings@bvitourism.com. For inclusion in the email database, industry professionals can send their name, business, email, and contact details to database@bvitourism.com.
