The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has charged two men — Jeremy Nibbs, 37, of Pockwood Pond, and Kyle Baronville, 36, of Belle Vue — following intensified patrols and stop-and-search operations across the territory.
Both men face charges of keeping a firearm without a licence and unlawful possession of explosives, according to police. Nibbs was granted bail in the amount of $25,000 and is scheduled to appear before the Magistrate’s Court on Nov. 4. Baronville remains in custody pending his court appearance.
Police said the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to reduce gun-related crime and remove illegal weapons from circulation. Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline Vanterpool commended the officers involved, saying the recovery of the firearm and explosives demonstrates the RVIPF’s continued commitment to public safety.
“Our officers continue to work diligently to ensure the safety of every community,” Vanterpool said. “The recovery of firearms and explosives in recent days reflects the vigilance and professionalism of our ranks. We remain steadfast in our mission to reduce violent crime and prevent the loss of life.”
The RVIPF is encouraging the public to report information on illegal weapons or suspicious activity to the Intelligence Unit at 368-9339 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 (TIPS) or 284-800-8477 from overseas.
