A scooter rider was critically injured Tuesday, July 29, evening following a collision with a car along DeCastro Street, near the Republic Bank and FirstBank buildings, according to preliminary reports.
The accident occurred shortly before 8:00 p.m. and involved a Nissan Note, model year 2007, driven by a male. The scooter was reportedly traveling southbound when the Nissan Note exited a parking lot into its path, resulting in the crash.
The injured rider was transported in critical condition to Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital. As of Wednesday morning, his current medical status has not been confirmed by officials.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved, and investigations into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
