Nekita Turnbull Appointed Chief Information Officer in Department of Information and Public Relations
Nekita Turnbull has been appointed Chief Information Officer within the Department of Information and Public Relations, effective Aug. 1, 2025, following her acting appointment after the retirement of the former chief information officer in 2024.
Turnbull previously served as deputy chief information officer, overseeing the department’s human resources functions, including training and staff development. She has also worked as an information officer in the department and as marketing manager at CTL Home Centre.
Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office Carolyn Stoutt-Igwe said Turnbull’s appointment followed targeted training and a secondment to the Government of the Cayman Islands as part of a succession plan. “We are proud to have Ms. Turnbull appointed as Chief Information Officer,” Stoutt-Igwe said.
Turnbull holds a Bachelor of Arts in mass communications and advertising from the University of South Florida, an Associate of Arts in English from H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, and a Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice from the Chartered Management Institute. She has also earned multiple certifications in media and communications.
In a statement, Turnbull said she is committed to strengthening government communications. “I am dedicated to building on the progress already made in advancing government communications and transforming the department,” she said. “My hope is to also inspire greater interest in the field, while working alongside colleagues across the Public Service to raise standards and strengthen how we connect with the people of the Virgin Islands.”
As chief information officer, Turnbull will lead efforts to modernize the department, implement process improvements, and support government policy through communications products, while also monitoring public opinion on government initiatives.

Governor’s Office Delivers Trauma Risk Management Training to Frontline Officers in Virgin Islands
The Governor’s Office, with support from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, this week delivered Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) training to frontline officers in the Virgin Islands, including members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, prison officers and volunteers from Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR).
The program is designed to help first responders recognize and manage the psychological effects of traumatic incidents encountered in the course of their duties. Participants received instruction on identifying early signs of stress-related responses and providing peer support following critical events.
According to the Governor’s Office, the training forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen welfare and resilience within frontline services across the territory.
“By strengthening welfare and resilience within our front line services, we are ensuring that the people who protect us are supported themselves,” the Governor’s Office said in a statement.
Officials thanked participants for their involvement and acknowledged the trainer for leading the sessions.
Trauma Risk Management, commonly known as TRiM, is a peer-support process used in emergency services and military settings to assess and address the mental health impact of traumatic exposure.
