A total of 36 females participated in Saturday’s Women’s Football Festival on Virgin Gorda (VG), an event meant to revive the game for females.
Cassandra Gregg, a BVI Football Association (BVIFA) coach and official, said in a news release that the Association is “really pleased” with the turnout of 26 girls from VG and 10 from Tortola.
“The girls really enjoyed the morning training and afternoon 5v5s. There were some great performances and the girls are playing and learning week on week,” Gregg was further quoted as saying in the release.
“I was also pleased with the discipline level the girls displayed and there was a great excitement from all involved,” Gregg added.
The BVIFA release said the Festival “proved to be a great launch pad to reinvigorate the game for females”.
