Virgin Islands Education System Welcomes New Public School Principals
In an ongoing endeavour to improve the quality of education in the territory, the Virgin Islands Education System has recently appointed six new principals. These appointments reflect the system’s commitment to enhancing educational standards and providing students with the best possible learning experiences.
Deputy Chief Education Officer (CEO) Mrs. Orlandette Crabbe expressed her satisfaction with the appointments, stating, “At the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports, we are pleased to welcome these six new principals.”
Mrs. Crabbe emphasised that the Ministry’s objective is to continually strengthen leadership within the education system. The appointment of these new principals aligns with this goal and reflects the Ministry’s commitment to improving education in the Virgin Islands.
The newly appointed principals are as follows: Ms. NaTasha Marshall, who will lead Bregado Flax Educational Centre Secondary; Ms. Ashkisha Maduro, appointed as principal of Ebenezer Thomas Primary School; Ms. Janelle Rhymer, who will take the helm at Leonora Delville Primary School; Ms. Magdalene Alister, assigned to Eslyn Henley Richiez Learning Centre; Ms. Akima Powell, appointed as principal of Robinson O’Neal Memorial Primary School; and Mrs. Candice Bolondia-Fraites, who will serve as assistant principal at Enis Adams Primary School.
Mrs. Crabbe highlighted that these appointments demonstrate the Ministry’s commitment to reimagining education in the territory. She congratulated the newly appointed principals and expressed gratitude to all applicants for their interest in the positions. Mrs. Crabbe encouraged the appointees to pursue their passion in education, expand their experience, and apply innovative ideas, as these efforts will undoubtedly raise the bar and contribute to the success of education in the Virgin Islands.

Seven Young Ballers Embark on an Eight-Day Basketball Adventure in Orlando
Seven young boys from the British Virgin Islands are set to experience basketball at its finest as they head to Orlando, Florida From November 23 to 28. The ballerswill participate in the Jr. Orlando Magic Youth Basketball Camp, an opportunity that combines skill development, fun, and a front-row seat to the NBA world.
The trip is organised through Sports Vision Academy, led by Mr. Eustace “Boss” Freeman. The young athletes—Niquan Freeman, Kyle Gumbs Jr., Jahy Smith, Ke’mori Daway, Tiondre Martin, Jaiden Cameron, and Jadey Glasgow—will be accompanied by Freeman himself, alongside Jovaughn Cameron and Roy Garraway.
“It’s the first time attending this camp, and the boys will also get the opportunity to attend an NBA game as well,” Freeman shared enthusiastically. “They will witness the Bulls take on the Magic, which is bound to be an unforgettable experience.”
The camp promises not only to refine their basketball skills but also to expose them to professional-level gameplay and sportsmanship.
Freeman expressed deep gratitude to the sponsors who made the trip possible, including the BVI Olympic Committee, Travel Wize LTD, and HNF. “Today’s youth are tomorrow’s stars,” Freeman said, reflecting on the impact this trip could have on the boys’ futures.
