Public Officers Granted Early Release Amid Inclement Weather
Deputy Governor David D. Archer Jr. and Governor Daniel Pruce have approved the early release of public officers across the Virgin Islands at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 13, due to deteriorating weather conditions.
The decision follows ongoing inclement weather, an active flash flood watch and forecasts of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms expected later in the day, according to an official circular issued by the Office of the Deputy Governor.
“Following consultation with His Excellency the Governor, Daniel Pruce, public officers may be released at 3:00 p.m. today in light of the ongoing inclement weather,” the circular stated.
The early release is intended to allow public officers sufficient time to secure government offices, vehicles and property, and to return home safely ahead of worsening conditions.
Officials said government offices are expected to resume normal operations at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, unless otherwise advised.
Archer also urged public officers to remain vigilant as weather conditions continue. “As heavy rains are forecasted throughout the evening into tomorrow, I urge all public officers to remain vigilant and exercise the utmost caution at all times,” he said.
Public officers were further encouraged to stay updated through official channels, including the Department of Disaster Management, as authorities continue to monitor the situation.
