RVIPF Identifies Officer Found Dead as Constable Dikembe Vanterpool

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has identified the officer found dead at the Cane Garden Bay Police Station as Police Constable Dikembe Vanterpool, confirming his passing in an official statement issued on March 27.

The force said it was “deeply saddened by the sudden passing” of Mr. Vanterpool, who was found unresponsive earlier that day at the station, where he resided in the barracks. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Acting Commissioner of Police Richard Ullger said the circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear. “The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear at this time, and an investigation is underway,” he said.

Mr. Vanterpool joined the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force on Aug. 16, 2019, as part of Cohort 4 of local training. The force said he served with dedication and maintained a strong commitment to public safety throughout his tenure.

No additional details were immediately released, including the cause of death or whether foul play is suspected.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force extended condolences to Mr. Vanterpool’s family, friends and colleagues, noting that his passing represents a loss to the organisation and the wider community.
