British Virgin Islands athlete Adaejah Hodge set a new women’s national record in the 400 meters, clocking 51.24 seconds to win at the Hurricane Invitational in her first outdoor meet of the 2026 season.
The performance established a new BVI national mark in the event and marked Hodge’s debut in the 400m at the collegiate level this season. She led a sweep for the University of Georgia in the race while posting the fastest time recorded by a BVI female athlete in the event.
Hodge, who represents the British Virgin Islands internationally and competes for the University of Georgia, has continued a strong 2026 campaign following her NCAA indoor season. She won the women’s 200 meters at the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships in March, becoming the first athlete from the Virgin Islands to secure a national title at that level.
The 19-year-old sprinter now holds multiple national records for the British Virgin Islands, including in the 100 meters and 200 meters, in addition to the newly set 400 meters mark.
Hodge, who was born in Tortola, has represented the Virgin Islands at major international competitions, including the 2024 Olympic Games and the World Athletics Championships.
Her latest performance adds to a series of record-breaking results in 2026, as she continues to compete across sprint events at the collegiate and international levels.
