Investigation Underway, Acting Commissioner Ullger Says
An officer of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force was found unresponsive earlier today at the Cane Garden Bay Police Station, where he resided in the barracks, Acting Commissioner Richard Ullger said in a statement. The officer was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Force is in the process of notifying the officer’s next of kin, Mr. Ullger said. Authorities have not released the officer’s name pending notification of family members.
“The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear at this time, and an investigation is underway,” Mr. Ullger said.
No further details were immediately available, including the cause of death or whether foul play is suspected.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force extended condolences to the officer’s family, friends and colleagues.
