InterCaribbean Airways has officially launched new nonstop service between Barbados (BGI) and Virgin Islands’ Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport (EIS), marking another step in the airline’s expansion across the Caribbean.
The inaugural flight from Barbados to Tortola arrived earlier today March 8, and was welcomed with a ceremonial reception at the airport, attended by Virgin Islands government leaders and InterCaribbean Airways officials. The event highlighted the importance of strengthening regional air connectivity and improving travel links between Barbados and the Virgin Islands.
The Barbados–Tortola route will operate three times weekly on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, providing travelers with a direct connection between the two islands.
The launch is part of InterCaribbean’s broader expansion strategy centered on Barbados as a growing regional hub.
The airline also introduced new service between Barbados and Port of Spain, Trinidad, operating four times per week. InterCaribbean also launched twice-weekly flights between Barbados and St. Maarten on Sundays and Wednesdays.
Additional connectivity is also planned for the Virgin Islands. Beginning March 12, InterCaribbean will introduce twice-weekly service between Tortola and St. Maarten, operating Thursdays and Saturdays.
The airline is supporting its expansion with fleet upgrades, including the introduction of ATR 42-500 turboprop aircraft, which are gradually replacing older aircraft previously used in its fleet.
InterCaribbean Airways said the new routes are part of the airline’s continued effort to strengthen regional connectivity and position Barbados as a key hub linking destinations across the Caribbean.
