Inter Caribbean Flight 713 declared an emergency today, April 12, after an apparent engine failure forced the aircraft to return to Dominica shortly after takeoff from Douglas-Charles Airport.

The flight, en route to Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados, took off at 1:13 pm local time. Witnesses onboard reported engine trouble soon after departure, prompting the pilot to initiate a return to Douglas-Charles Airport.

Flight tracking data revealed the plane making multiple loops east of Dominica before safely landing back at the airport. Passengers were evacuated from the aircraft without incident.

While the exact nature and extent of the engine failure remain unclear, Inter Caribbean Airlines has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
