Junior Minister Dr. Karl Dawson Assumes Health and Social Development Duties while Minister Wheatley is on Leave

The Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Vincent Wheatley, is currently on personal leave outside the Territory until November 14th.

In his absence, the functions of the Minister for Health and Social Development will be undertaken by the Junior Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, Honourable Dr. Karl Dawson.

This appointment adheres to the provisions outlined in section 52 (2) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007. Per this constitutional mandate, the Governor, in consultation with the Premier, has taken action to appoint Honourable Dr. Karl Dawson to fulfill ministerial duties during Honourable Wheatley’s temporary absence. This appointment is formalised through an instrument under the Public Seal, selecting a Minister from among the elected members of the House of Assembly.

The government assures the public that all necessary steps have been taken to ensure the continued efficiency and effectiveness of the Ministry for Health and Social Development during this period.
