Parents of students at the Jost Van Dyke School have taken to the streets in protest, demanding urgent action from the Ministry of Education to address the deplorable conditions in the school.

The concerned parents have alleged that the school’s existing building is plagued by issues such as mold and leaks, while the school compound itself is flooded. Frustrated by the lack of action, they are now calling on the Ministry to intervene and ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for their children.

JTV News has reached out to the Minister for Education, Youth Affairs, and Sports for a statement regarding the situation. Updates are expected shortly as we await their response.

In the midst of the protest, District Representative Honourable Melvin “Mitch” Turnbull has also voiced his concerns about the dire state of the Jost Van Dyke School. He has expressed the urgent need for immediate attention and assistance from the Ministry to resolve these issues effectively.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, officials from the Ministry have been dispatched to the island to assess the conditions and take appropriate action. It is hoped that their presence will lead to swift resolutions and improvements for the benefit of both teachers and students.
