18-year-old Adaejah Hodge has won the silver medal in the 100m finals at the Lima 2024 World Athletics U20 Championships. Crossing the finish line in 11.27 seconds, Hodge’s performance marks a historic moment for the British Virgin Islands, as it is the nation’s first medal at the championships since 2016.

The last time the British Virgin Islands secured a medal at this event was when Kyron McMaster, OBE, OLY, claimed bronze in the 400m hurdles in Bydgoszcz, Poland. Prior to that, in 2013, the team of Nelda Huggins, Taylor Hill, Tarika Moses, Lakeisha Warner, and Jonel Lacey earned a silver medal in the Sprint Medley 1000m in Donetsk, Ukraine.

Hodge, who recently competed in the 200m semifinals at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, is set to run in the 200m Heat 3/6 on Thursday, August 29. She will be taking Lane 2 at 11:21 a.m. (12:21 p.m. BVI time), continuing her impressive streak on the international stage.
