The Inland Revenue Department of the Virgin Islands is reminding property owners that the 2024 Property Tax is due between September 1 and November 30. This notice comes as the department prepares to enforce the Property Tax Ordinance, Cap 207 (as amended), ensuring that all property owners comply with their tax obligations for the year.

The official Property Tax list, which details proprietors’ names, property descriptions and amounts due, has been made publicly accessible across the Territory. Residents can review the list at various public buildings, including the Inland Revenue Department offices on Tortola and Virgin Gorda, as well as District Offices on Anegada and Jost Van Dyke. For added convenience, the list is also available online at the government’s official website.

Property owners who disagree with the tax assessments on their properties have an opportunity to challenge these assessments. On Monday, September 2, at 10 a.m., owners from Tortola, Anegada, Jost Van Dyke and other locations within the BVI can present their objections to the Magistrate at the Magistrate’s Court, located in the old CTL building in Pasea. Property owners on Virgin Gorda can raise their concerns on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Magistrate’s Court in the Valley, Virgin Gorda.

The Inland Revenue Department strongly encourages property owners to settle their 2024 Property Tax promptly to avoid incurring interest charges, which are set at twenty percent. Additionally, property owners with outstanding taxes are advised to either pay their dues or arrange a payment plan with the department. It is also important to note that legal transactions related to “Stamp Duty” will not be processed unless all taxes associated with the property are paid in full.

For further information or assistance, property owners can contact the Inland Revenue Department at (284) 468-2155.
