Rehabilitation of Old Administration Building Set to Begin
The long-awaited restoration of the historic Old Administration Building on Main Street, Tortola, is set to commence soon. Floyd Stoutt, Manager of the Public Estate Management Unit within the Office of the Deputy Governor, recently conducted a walk-through with prospective contractors to outline the project’s scope and objectives.
The initial phase of the rehabilitation will focus on restoring the building’s front-facing façade. This includes replacing structural support members and metallic features to enhance safety for both pedestrians and vehicles passing by the site.
Contractors are expected to submit their proposals by June 24, with the goal of completing this phase of the project by October 31.
The restoration of the Old Administration Building marks a significant step in preserving the architectural heritage of Tortola and revitalising Main Street.
