Sir Richard Branson, the billionaire entrepreneur and founder of the Virgin Group, recently encountered a mishap while cycling on Virgin Gorda yesterday, February 11.
In a statement shared on his facebook page, Branson recounted the incident, saying, “Took quite a big tumble while cycling in Virgin Gorda a little while ago.”
Branson explained that he hit a pothole while cycling, leading to a hard crash that resulted in another hematoma on his hip and a nasty cut on his elbow. Despite the severity of the fall, he expressed gratitude, stating, “But amazingly nothing broken.”
The accident occurred while Branson was cycling with his companion, Alex Wilson, who also fell after him. Fortunately, both Branson and Wilson escaped major injuries, with Branson noting, “Thankfully he was ok as well.”
Reflecting on the experience, Branson emphasised his gratitude for his overall well-being, stating, “I’m counting myself very lucky, and thankful for keeping myself active and healthy.” He concluded his statement with a reminder, saying, “After all, the brave may not live forever but the cautious do not live at all!”
