Former Legislator Mr. Carvin Malone to Lie in State Ahead of Official Funeral
The official funeral of former legislator, Mr. Carvin Malone, will be held on Friday, February 2 at the Multi-purpose Sports Complex.
The preceding day, on Thursday, February 1, the House of Assembly will host Mr. Malone’s body, offering the public an opportunity to pay their respects between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The official proceedings will commence on February 2 with a procession from the House of Assembly at 8:00 a.m., leading to the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex. A pre-service is scheduled for 9:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Interment will then take place at the serene Road Town Methodist Church Cemetery.
As a mark of respect, official flags across the Territory will be flown at half-mast on February 2 at all Government buildings.
For those traveling from the Sister Islands, ground transportation will be provided on Friday, ensuring accessibility from the ferry terminals in Road Town and West End to the complex and back.
Mr. Carvin Malone, who devoted three years as the Minister of Health and Social Development, passed away at the age of 64 on Sunday, January 14, at the Dr. D Orlando Smith Hospital. Having been elected to the House of Assembly in 2019, his departure leaves a void in the political landscape of the Virgin Islands.
The Government of the Virgin Islands stands in solidarity with the family and friends of the late legislator, mourning the loss of a dedicated public servant and beloved son of the soil.
