House of Assembly Expresses Disappointment Over Exclusion from Governor’s Departure Ceremony

The Departure Ceremony for Governor John Rankin CMG witnessed a conspicuous absence of most Members of the House of Assembly.

A statement released by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Corine George-Massicote House revealed that, besides the Premier, Leader of the Opposition and Attorney General, no other Members received invitations to the event, prompting their nonattendance.

Upon inquiry by Hon. George-Massicote, it was disclosed that the ceremony aimed to maintain an intimate atmosphere, leading to the selective issuance of invitations. The Speaker expressed her regret at not being included in the occasion.

In the official statement, the House of Assembly acknowledged the significance of fostering unity and inclusivity, especially during events of such public interest. Despite the lack of invitations, the Speaker conveyed well wishes to Governor Rankin, extending support for his future endeavours.
