Wellington “Butchie” Romney, Respected Public Servant and Community Leader, Passes Away at 68

Wellington “Butchie” Romney, a prominent figure in the Virgin Islands community and the brother of the late Chief Minister Cyril B. Romney, has passed away at the age of 68.

He died early Monday morning, January 15,  at Dr. D Orlando Smith Hospital in Road Town, Tortola, Virgin Islands, succumbing to complications related to cancer.

Mr. Romney’s dedication to public service was evident throughout his career. Following his service with the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), he transitioned to a vital role as the Sergeant-at-Arms for the House of Assembly of the Virgin Islands. Additionally, he contributed significantly to the security sector through his company, Elite Security Services.

A resident of West End Tortola, Mr. Romney’s impact extended beyond his professional life. He was a beloved husband to Dianna and a devoted father to his nine children. His legacy also includes one grandchild. As news of his passing spreads, the Management and staff of Jahphix Multimedia Services Integrated extend their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, along with other relatives and friends affected by this loss.
