Carrot Bay Cultural Thursdays 2024 Promises a Melodic Kick-Off Celebration
The First District gears up for a harmonious start to 2024 with the commencement of Cultural Thursdays at 3 pm today, January 4.
This vibrant event promises a fusion of musical genre and cultural delights, making it a must-attend for both locals and visitors alike.
The heart of the event lies in the soul-stirring performances by talented local singers, showcasing the diverse musical flavours that have resonated through the islands over the years.
Committee President, Monica Howson, expressed her excitement about the lineup, which includes a stellar cast of artists such as Gia Frazer, Nyamekye Donovan, Ravenna, Jalena, and Ice of JTM, among others. Notably, the event will also feature the enchanting sounds of the Band of Love from West End and the Carrot Bay Carollers, adding a touch of tradition with their house-to-house serenading that beautifully bridges the Christmas season and the New Year.
“I am thrilled to see such a diverse array of performers coming together to celebrate our culture and musical heritage,” Howson remarked, “It’s a fantastic way to kick off the year and showcase the incredible talent we have right here in the First District.”
The festivities will begin at 3 pm, offering attendees a sensory experience with an array of cultural food and drinks, including fresh fish, fruits, vegetables and handcrafted items. The main event, the singing performances, will commence at 6 pm, promising an evening of joyous melodies and captivating rhythms.
An open mic opportunity will be available for anyone in attendance who wishes to share their talents.
Cultural Thursdays is a proud production of the First District Community, spearheaded by Representative Dr. Hon Karl Dawson, with generous support from local businesses, including sponsorship from Villa of Tortola.
