BVI Diabetes Association’s Elton George’s Run/Walk Draws Enthusiastic Youth Participation

The Elton George’s Run/Walk, held November 11, received acclaim from The British Virgin Islands Diabetes Association for its success.

The event, covering the route from the Cyril B. Romney Pier Park to Ebenezer Thomas School and back, received significant support from participants, with a noteworthy emphasis on the enthusiastic participation of the youth.

Dr. Sharlon Lewis, the President of the BVI Diabetes Association, expressed her satisfaction with the event’s overall turnout. In an interview with Jahphix Television (JTV), she emphasised the importance of fostering awareness and collaborative efforts to combat diabetes. “Today was a success, and we were happy with the youth, especially that came out. Continue to beat the sweet,” she encouraged, underlining the significance of ongoing initiatives in the fight against diabetes.

The Elton George’s Run/Walk served as a platform for the British Virgin Islands Diabetes Association to further its mission of preventing and managing diabetes. Ms. Lewis extended her gratitude to the community for their steadfast support, emphasising the critical role that events like these play in raising awareness about the challenges posed by diabetes.
