Lynette Harrigan Awarded MBE for Exceptional Service in International Travel and Community Dedication

Lynette Harrigan, the Niche Marketing Manager and Tourism Liaison Manager at the BVI Tourist Board and Film Commission (BVITB), was officially honored as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by the Princess of the Royal Family at a grand Investiture Ceremony held at Buckingham Palace.

The prestigious recognition came as a result of Harrigan’s outstanding contributions to international travel during the challenging coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and her dedicated service to the British Virgin Islands (BVI) community. Harrigan was named on King Charles III’s inaugural New Year’s Honours List for 2023, an acknowledgment of her remarkable achievements and unwavering commitment.

The special occasion was attended by several distinguished individuals, including the Minister for Health and Social Development and District Nine Representative, Honourable Vincent O. Wheatley, who joined Harrigan in her momentous achievement. Harrigan’s family, including Ryan Geluk, Jehree’ Clarke, Anthony Clarke, and others, were also present to celebrate her significant honor.

To commemorate the occasion, a specially crafted cake was prepared by Gorvey Henry, a native of the BVI who currently resides in the UK, adding a touch of sweetness to the celebration.

Lynette Harrigan’s remarkable journey and dedication to the BVI’s tourism industry span over twenty-four years. Her relentless efforts have significantly contributed to the growth and development of the local tourism sector, showcasing her unwavering commitment to the community she serves.

Additionally, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Harrigan’s service proved invaluable in managing international travel and providing support to both the local and international communities. Her exemplary service and tireless dedication have made her a true inspiration, deserving of the MBE recognition.
