Power on Jost Van Dyke (JVD) has been restored to the island today at 15:30 pm, the British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation has confirmed.

The generator responsible for providing electricity to the Island of suddenly ceased operation last night, October 29 at 7:00 pm, leaving residents and businesses in complete darkness.

A team of experts from the BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) arrived on the scene yesterday to investigate the issue. However, they soon realized that the problem was more complex than initially anticipated, requiring further troubleshooting and diagnostic testing to identify the root cause of the failure.

Jost Van Dyke has relied on this generator for its power supply ever since September 17, when a submerged cable, which previously connected the island to the grid on Tortola, developed a critical problem and became nonfunctional.
