Virgin Gorda Prepares for Epic New Year’s Eve Bash with R. City
R. City will headline Virgin Gorda’s Yacht Harbour’s “More for 2024” New Year’s Eve celebration.
Theron and Timothy Thomas, the talented sibling duo, will grace the stage for their first live, in-person performance in Virgin Gorda on December 31, 2023, marking a momentous occasion for both the island and the dynamic musical pair.
The occasion coincides with the release of their much-anticipated mix tape, “This is Not a Drill…This is Really Happening,” slated to drop on October 27, 2023.
R. City’s return to the music scene is a monumental event since their last release dates back to 2017.
The brothers, hailing from the US Virgin Islands, have garnered international acclaim over the past decade as recording artists, touring the world. Notably, Theron Thomas recently clinched his first Grammy as a songwriter for Lizzo’s hit “About Damn Time.”
Benny-Demus, the duo’s manager, expressed the excitement surrounding R. City’s homecoming performance. “Those partaking in the More for 2024 festivities in Virgin Gorda will be the first to experience R. City’s new music live. We are thrilled to share this experience with our fans and family in Virgin Gorda. R. City is gearing up to deliver an unforgettable performance, setting the stage for a promising 2024.”
The More for 2024 New Year’s Eve celebration, introduced in September, is a groundbreaking event for Virgin Gorda. Organizers have promised a vibrant evening filled with music, culinary delights, cultural showcases, and a strong sense of community to welcome the new year.
Alejandro Chometowski, Property Manager, assures that the night will be an unforgettable celebration of music. “Besides R. City, we have enlisted some of the BVI’s finest bands to keep the audience entertained throughout the night. Whether you are a fan of fungi music, calypso, or soca, we have it all covered. Leon and the Hotshots and Razor Blades will bring the fungi beats, while Evolution Band will keep the spirits high with their calypso and soca tunes. Elvis White and Final Faze will ensure a night of continuous dancing with their original Virgin Islands calypso and cover music.”
The “More for 2024” New Year’s Eve celebration promises an unforgettable night of music and revelry. The event is open to the public, with an option for a VIP experience through ticket purchases on the event website – www.vgyh.events.
The event’s theme, “More For 2024,” aims to provide additional local entertainment opportunities for the community, emphasize the arts and culture of the BVI, attract tourists to the beautiful BVI shores, and facilitate community gatherings to celebrate the diversity of the Virgin Islands.
