Demolition of Former Magistrate’s Court Clears Path for New Eslyn Henley Richiez Learning Centre
Autland Heavy Equipment Co. Ltd. successfully demolished the former location of the Magistrate’s Court last weekend, making way for the construction of the highly anticipated New Eslyn Henley Richiez Learning Centre.
The contract for the demolition of both buildings at the former site was awarded to the construction company on August 25.
The previous building of the Eslyn Henley Richiez Learning Centre was tragically destroyed during the destructive category five hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017.
The new location of the learning centre which will be its permanent home, is designed to be a green and resilient facility, specifically catering to the needs of the differently-abled community. This reflects the territory’s commitment to ensuring that every child has access to a quality education.
In 2020, the government announced a land swap between the Magistrate’s Court and the Eslyn Henley Richiez Learning Centre. This strategic decision aimed to optimize shared resources and provide enhanced access to recreational facilities for both institutions.
Now that the demolition is complete, the stage is set for the construction phase of the project. Over the next 18 months, the new learning centre will begin to take shape, bringing the vision of a modern and inclusive educational facility closer to reality.
