Sha’Carri Richardson is gearing up for an exciting finale to her remarkable season at the Prefontaine Classic this weekend (16-17 September 2023).

The 23-year-old American, who recently clinched the women’s 100m world title in Budapest and played a pivotal role in Team USA’s triumph in the 4x100m relay, is ready to take on a stacked field at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

Richardson’s return to the track holds special significance as it marks just over two months since she secured her first U.S. title on the same turf.

The women’s 100m event promises to be a thrilling showdown, with Richardson facing off against the two-time reigning Olympic champion, Elaine Thompson-Herah of Jamaica. Joining them will be Shericka Jackson, Thompson’s teammate and world silver medallist, as well as seasoned sprinters Marie-Josee Ta Lou from Côte d’Ivoire and Dina Asher-Smith from Great Britain.

Scheduled as the penultimate race of the Diamond League day, the women’s 100m is set to commence at 13:40 local time (PDT) in Eugene. Fans can expect a captivating display of speed, athleticism, and fierce competition as these exceptional athletes vie for victory on the renowned track.
