Adaejah Hodge Finishes 7th In 200m Semifinal – End Debut At World Athletics Championship
Adaejah Hodge on Thursday afternoon ended her World Athletics Championship debut finishing seventh in the 200-metre semifinal in Hungary
The 17-year-old British Virgin Islands top sprinter crossed the finish line in xxx seconds on August 24 in the National Athletics Centre in Budapest.
Her Championships journey has been remarkable for one so young.
The BVI’s 200m record holder created history when she booked her spot in the World Athletics Championships semifinal with a time of 22.82 – a fourth place finish in Heat 3 of the highly contested 200m.
Hodge was ranked 20th of 24 athletes who made the semifinal qualification requirement. She placed among the best six non automatic qualifiers.
Her experiences at her first Worlds are expected to fuel her drive to achieve more on the senior world stage.
This year, Hodge captured the girls’ championships 200-metre title at the 2023 New Balance Nationals Outdoor in a record-breaking time of 22.64 seconds
She is also the World Under 18 and 20 record holder in the 200m.
The teenaged speedster from a cluster of beautiful Caribbean islands is definitely a track star to watch over the next few years.
