Sprinter Adaejah Hodge Books Spot In Semi-Final – World Athletics Championships

Sprinter Adaejah Hodge has booked her place in the much anticipated 200m semi-final at the World Athletics Championships in Hungary, clocking 22.82 seconds in Heat 3 this morning.

The British Virgin Islander crossed the line in 4th place, ranking 20th of 24 athletes who reached the semifinal qualification requirement by placing among the best six non-automatic qualifiers.

The semifinals of the 200m is scheduled to take place on August 24 at 1:45 p.m. local time.

The standout athlete entered the Championships as one to watch having captured the girls’ championships 200-metre title at the 2023 New Balance Nationals Outdoor in a record-breaking time of 22.64 seconds in July.

The seventeen-year-old national record holder, and World Under 18 and 20 record holder in the 200m is up against two powerful athletes –Jamaican Shericka Jackson with a time of 21.45 seconds and American Gabby Thomas who ran 21.60 seconds this year.

The 200m is one of the main events of World Championships which kicks off on August 19 and will conclude on August 27.
