Virgin Islands’ Kyron McMaster Dominates World Athletics Continental Tour with Record-Breaking Victory

Kyron McMaster set a new meet record and claimed the top spot with a superb time of 47.26 seconds in the 400m hurdles at the 2023 P-T-S World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting in Slovakia on July 20, 2023.

The race was fiercely contested, with David Kendziera from the United States finishing in second place with a time of 48.95 seconds. Danny Brandt from Switzerland secured the third spot with a time of 49.25 seconds.

McMaster’s blistering performance not only secured him first place but also comfortably surpassed the previous meet record of 48.24 seconds. This achievement places him in third position on the Season’s top list.

According to a meet report by World Track, McMaster’s race strategy was marked by an aggressive start, taking the lead from the very beginning and maintaining it until the end. His commanding performance not only earned him the victory but also marked the second-fastest time of his career, a remarkable feat for the talented athlete.

McMaster, a two-time Commonwealth Games champion, continues to make his mark on the international stage. With a national record (NR) and personal best (PB) of 47.08 seconds, he proved his mettle with a fourth-place finish at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
