The National Security Council (NSC) has issued a statement regarding recent developments in two significant cases that have impacted the safety and security of the Virgin Islands.

The armed robbery that took place at the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park on 1st July has raised concerns among the community.

The NSC assures the public that the safety and security of the Virgin Islands remain of utmost importance. The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has made significant progress in the investigation, resulting in the arrest and charging of two individuals in connection with the robbery. The NSC commends Acting Commissioner St. Clair Amory and all the police officers involved in the investigation for their dedication and swift action. Regular police patrols will continue to provide reassurance to those visiting and working in the Pier Park area.

In another notable achievement, the NSC congratulates the RVIPF Marine Unit for their successful operation on 7th July. The operation led to the detention of two vessels in waters near Anguilla, the arrest of six individuals, and the seizure of approximately two tonnes of suspected cocaine. This operation highlights the successful collaboration between Overseas Territories, the United Kingdom, and international partners. It also serves as a testament to the Marine Unit’s commitment to combating the illicit trade in narcotics.

The NSC acknowledges the significance of these recent developments and reiterates its commitment to maintaining the safety and security of the Virgin Islands. The efforts of law enforcement agencies, such as the RVIPF, are crucial in ensuring the well-being of the community and upholding the law.

The NSC encourages the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. By working together, the Virgin Islands can continue to create a safe and secure environment for all residents and visitors.
